A MILESTONE has been reached in the campaign to allow a little girl to walk for the first time.

The Help Roxi Walk appeal was launched six weeks ago and has reached the £5,000 mark - ten per cent of the target total.

It was started by parents Joe Aldrich and Adi Martinkovicova, of New Town, Colchester.

They want to raise £50,000 for their daughter Roxi, who has cerebral palsy, to have life changing surgery in the US.

A Facebook page and website set up to raise awareness of the campaign and receive donations has been inundated with the public’s generosity.

A fundraising cake baking week last month raised £1,000 alone.

Budding bakers were asked to make sweet treats and sell them in aid of Roxi.

Mr Aldrich, 27, said events took place throughout the UK.

He added: “However, locally thanks must go to Kiddi Caru nursery, Essex University and the council teams at Stanwell and Essex House, Colchester.
“Not forgetting everybody else who got involved with baking and eating cakes.”

Mr Aldrich also thanked the organisers of two recent music events, Evoke Live, Chelmsford, and Bures Music Festival, where fundraisers were allowed to attend with charity buckets, which collected another £600.
