THE widow of a man who died aged just 53 from bowel cancer is to hold a street party to help others in her family’s situation.
Sally Henderson hopes the community will come together to raise cash for St Helena Hospice after its home care team nursed husband Paul in his final days.
Mr Henderson died in May last year after having only been diagnosed eight months previously.
He also left son, Cane, aged 10 at the time.
Mrs Henderson, 42, of Littlefield Road, Colchester, said: “Cane and I just really want to help other people that are in the same situation that we were in a year ago.
“We want to help someone else’s kids who have lost their mum or dad.”
As well as morphine for pain relief, in the week leading up to Mr Henderson’s death the Hospice’s home care team, provided comfort and support to him.
The fundraising event on July 27 will take place in Littlefield Road from 2pm.
There will be a barbecue, bouncy castle, tombola, table top sale and two raffles.
