A NURSING home in Parsons Heath has been given the go-ahead to expand.
Welshwood Manor Care Home plan to demolish a bungalow next to the existing home and create a 10 bedroom annex.
Nearby residents in Welshwood Park Road had objected to the proposals from operator Davard Care Homes, saying their quiet residential street could not cope with increased traffic.
Members of Colchester Council's planning committee unanimously approved the scheme during a meeting on Thursday evening, but imposed conditions on the developers, saying a travel plan had to be drawn up and an oak tree due to removed in construction should be replaced.
