Colchester Council has announced it plans to stop its subsidy to Abbots Activity Centre which is used by pensioners and the disabled, claiming it is too expensive.

Ifran Ahmed, 27, from Braintree, poked the tennis star in the eye with a programme as he left London's Mayfiar restaurant.
* TV presenter Christine Bleakley wowed fans when she arrived in Manningtree to film a new series Country Roads for ITV.
* A man is being treated for a serious head injury after he was attacked in Colchester town centre.
The victim, who is in his early twenties, was knocked unconscious outside Subway in St Botolph's Street.
