FED up residents say their lives are being made a misery by hundreds of squawking seagulls that have swarmed near their homes.
People living in Myland, Colchester, say the pesky birds are hovering near their houses all day long and their cries keeping them awake at night.
It is thought the seagulls nested in an empty building overlooking nearby Severalls Lane last year.
That building has now been occupied by packaging company Albea - but the birds have literally come flocking back.
Mystery surrounds what it is that is attracting them.
Ayla Vinter, of Antonius Way, which backs onto Severalls Lane, said: ”It goes on all-day long. They literally just group together.
“Night time it is affecting us. I have a little boy who is seven months old and a daughter as well and it has affected their sleep.
“I am having to close the windows but it is so warm, you want the windows open.”
Andrea Painter, of neighbouring Titus Way, added: “They are driving me do-lally.
“I am considering moving - I work from home and I can hear them."
An Albea spokeswoman said she had no idea what had attracted the seagulls.
"We have received some calls from neighbours with regard to the seagulls.
"We will work with the council to see what can be done to alleviate the issue."
