SIX months ago, brothers Lee and Dale Connelly picked up a garden spade for the first time after landing an allotment plot in Colchester.
This weekend, shortly after making their first live television appearance on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, the Skinny Jean Gardeners will unveil a garden they have created at Jimmy’s Farm.
Dale, 23 and Lee, 25, have now set up a website and have launched a drive to get a younger generation interested in gardening.
As the pair always do their gardening in stretched skinny jeans or shorts, they labelled themselves the Skinny Jean Gardeners.
Dale said: “At the start of the year we hadn’t picked up a spade and six months later we’re launching a garden at Jimmy’s.
“We’ve got family and friends who don’t question why theres fruit and vegetables on the shelves of their supermarket - they just expect it to be there.
“We’re trying to educate people in a fun way."
