A CLAMPDOWN on speeding jet skis and boats has been launched by police.
A joint operation between Essex Police’s Marine Unit and Tendring Council’s seafront team caught 11 people speeding over two days.
As well as potentially leading to death or serious injury to power boat users and others, fines of up to £1,200 can be issued for speeding.
The police will now work with councils across Essex to prosecute offenders.
Anyone with information about poor or dangerous use of watercraft is asked to call Essex Police on 101 in a non-emergency or 999 in an emergency.
