A LAW firm has raised more than £4,000 for Colchester hospitals after offering to write staff and patients’ wills in return for a donation.
Birkett Long, which is based in Colchester, charged those who took up the offer £75 for a single person and £100 for a couple, raising £4,325 for the Colchester Hospitals Charity.
Caroline Dowding, a solicitor who specialises in wills at Birkett Long, said: “This is the second time we have run this month-long scheme at the hospital and we are extremely pleased to have doubled the £2,000 we raised last year.”
Caroline Bates, Colchester Hospitals Charity fundraising manager, added: “We are absolutely delighted with the amount raised and would like to thank all at Birkett Long who gave their time so freely to the scheme.“
The money will be used to fund projects suggested by staff.
