A PUBLICAN has launched a campaign to restore a railway line between two north Essex seaside towns.
Dennis Ingate, landlord of the Brewers Arms in Brightlingsea, wants to see trains running along a five mile route to Wivenhoe again for the first time in generations.
He believes the return of a regular service would benefit commuters travelling to Colchester and London and attract more visitors to the beach and town centre during the summer.
He said: “It’s something people have been talking about for years, but nobody has ever bothered to do anything about it.
“People could sit back and say it will cost too much, but we’ve got to give it a go."
