FOUR people were hurt after two cars were involved in a head-on collision on a country road.
Firefighters from Colchester and Manningtree used specialist cutting equipment to free three women who were trapped in the cars after the accident on the A134 Nayland Road at Great Horkesley.
Three people were taken to Colchesterr General Hospital by ambulance suffering minor injuries whilst a fourth was airlifted to the hospital suffering serious but non-life threatening leg injuries.
The accident happened at 8.51am on Saturday and the cars involved were a grey Volkswagon Golf and a white Vauxhall Corsa.
Anyone who saw the incident is asked to contact Essex Police on 101.
