POLICE are appealing for witnesses after thieves tried to break into a house using a sledgehammer.
Detectives investigating the attempted break-in said the raiders left a large number of dents in the front door of the bungalow in Thorpe Road, Clacton.
However, they did not manage to get in.
The crime happened between 10am and 3.30pm on Wednesday, July 24 and police said they believed either a sledgehammer and possibly screwdrivers were used.
Anyone with information in connection with this attempted burglary is urged to contact detectives at Clacton police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
