Teenagers whose lives are affected by epilepsy will be able to share their experiences through acting during a drama workshop next month.
Colchester’s branch of national charity Epilepsy Action is organising the free one-day event for people aged between 13 and 18 on Saturday, August 17.
The session has been designed to help people explore their experiences of the condition, whether it is themselves personally or someone close to them who suffers.
Marie Edgar, the charity’s south east England manager, said: “This event is a great opportunity for young people and their families to meet others in similar situations and explore what it is really like to live with epilepsy through drama.
“We hope to gain some insight into their world and help their parents to listen and understand the issues they face.”
At the end of the day, which will run between 10.30am and 4pm, the group will show off what they have learnt in a final performance, which will be open to their family and friends.
The event, which will be held at The Headgate Theatre in Chapel Street, has been funded
by donations collected at Stratford Hills Horse Trials Essex 2012.
