REVAMPED traffic restrictions in the town centre could be launched alongside Colchester’s first park and ride by the end of next year, highways bosses have revealed.

A controversial trial ban on cars and lorries from using Colchester High Street during the day was scrapped by Essex County Council in April after just 26 days.

No-one at County Hall told Colchester Council about the decision until it was made.

Now, it has been revealed the two authorities have held “positive meetings” over early plans to introduce revised traffic orders at the same time as the opening of the long-awaited Colchester Park and Ride scheme.
