A WOMAN initially arrested in connection with her husband’s death has been found dead in her home.
Hazel Nutt’s body was found at her Colchester home yesterday just three weeks after her husband, Christopher Nutt, died aged 43.
Mrs Nutt, 39, and neighbour Terry Hurley, 42, were initially quizzed on suspicion of Mr Nutt’s murder on July 7 but were subsequently released without charge.
But after two days without hearing from Mrs Nutt, Mr Hurley forced his way into her flat, in Turner Road, and found her dead.
“Chris and Hazel had their problems but you will have to go a long way to find two people who were more devoted to each other than them,” said Mr Hurley, also of Turner Road.
“They wouldn’t have hesitated to die for each other. Nothing could break them apart.
“Now she won’t have to feel that pain.”
An Essex Police spokesman added: “Police were called shortly after 10.30am following reports that a woman was seriously ill in Turner Road.
“Officers arrived on the premises and found the body of a local woman in her thirties.”
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman added medics were called a home in Turner Road, at 10.45am yesterday but were not required.
He added: “The patient was pronounced dead at the scene and crews left the body with Essex Police.”
