A TEENAGER accused of helping a suspected murderer evade capture has been released without charge.
A 16-year-old from Paternoster Row, Walton, was arrested in connection with the murder of Thomas Brittain, on suspicion of assisting an offender, but was released without charge earlier today.
The trial of two teenagers accused of murder will begin on August 19.
Andre Vella, 19, of Village Way, Kirby Cross, and Jack Hummerstone, 18, of Clerkenwell, London, deny murdering Colchester songwriter Thomas Brittain in the early hours of March 9 at a block of flats in Charles House, Parkside Quarter.
They also deny possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or violence and a third charge of wounding a Matthew Purvis with intent on the same date.
A post-mortem examination on 26-year-old Mr Brittain, from Rotary Way, revealed the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.
