A COLCHESTER solicitor is hoping to climb the highest mountains in Great Britain, all within 24 hours.

Iain Thom is taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge this weekend in order to raise money for the Woolverstone Wish Appeal, which is fundraising to refurbish the chemotherapy outpatient clinics and day unit in the Woolverstone Wing of Ipswich Hospital.

The dad-of-three, who grew up in Lexden, but now lives in Ipswich, will join colleagues Alicia Wiles and Sharon Wragg, who also work at Kerseys Solicitors, in Ipswich.

Mr Thom said: “The appeal is a cause we all feel strongly about.

“We wanted to do something significant to push the boundaries and raise awareness.”

Mr Thom also took part in the London triathlon last year and said he is excited about another challenge.

“I think it will be hard work and I have been training for it. I think we will have reason to feel proud when we finish it,” he added.

The three peaks are in Snowden, Wales, at 1085m. Scaffell Pike, in England, at 978m and Ben Nevis, in Scotland, at 1,344m.
