Colne hopes to fit air-source heat pumps at rural homes not connected to the gas supply and reliant on storage heaters or oil.
It was awarded £157,000 from the Renewable Heat Premium Payment, and will add £250,000 of its own cash.
The pumps absorb heat from the outside, similarly to how a fridge works, proving cheaper and more efficent
