DISAPPOINTMENT has been expressed by a town council after a senior councillor turned down an invite to a meeting.
Wivenhoe Town Council is organising a public event over plans to convert garages in Rosabelle Avenue into social housing.
The authority asked councillor Tina Bourne, responsible for housing at Colchester Council, to come to the meeting and field questions.
But the cabinet member declined the invitation, prompting a statement on the town council’s website saying it was “disappointed” with the move.
Mrs Bourne said she turned down the invite because there was nothing new to add at this, but confirmed a decision had not yet been made on the future of the site.
