In today's Gazette: A ROGUE landlord is facing a £10,000 bill for failing to carry out vital repairs to a home where a mum and her young daughter lived in squalor.
Now Ghulam Sorwar has been fined £1,970 by Colchester maigstrates and Colchester Council is carrying out £8,000 of repairs - and giving the bill to him.
* A prolific burglar has been jailed for four years after being caught on camera with a bag of swag over his shoulder.
Rodney Geisha, 41, of Edith Road, Clacton, was photographed by passers-by as he walked away from a house he had raided.
* A grandmother whose body was discovered near Colchester's Castle Park died from an overdose of street heroin.
Trudy Game, 41, was found under a bridge by the River Colne in East Street.
* A radical shake-up of maternity services in north Essex has been shelved.
The North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group has been told to concentrate on the failings identified by the Keogh Review before looking at maternity services.
