TWO teenagers will appear at Chemsford Crown Court charged with intimidating witnesses in connection with the Jay Whiston murder.
Kieran Marsh, of Creffield Road, Colchester, and Alan Loughlin, of Titania Close, Colchester, both 18, were called to Colchester Magistrates’ Court earlier this week.
Jay Whiston, 17, of Aster Close, Clacton, was stabbed to death at a house party in Marlowe Way, Colchester, on September 8 last year.
The defendants, who both wore blue shirts, stood side by side in the dock.
They have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on October 7.
An 18-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday, August 5.
Two men, both 19 and from Colchester, who were also arrested on suspicion of murder have subsequently been released without charge.
18-year-old Rhys Hennebry, of Gurdon Road, Colchester, has been charged with one count of affray allegedly relating to the incident and will appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on August 13.
Two men, aged 51 and 19, and a woman, 42, all from Colchester, arrested in November on suspicion of assisting an offender, have been re-bailed by police until August 14.
A 16-year-old girl, and an 18-year-old woman from Clacton have also been re-bailed on suspicion of witness intimidation until August 8.
