A mother has been left comforting her two young daughters after their pet cat was poisoned.
Louise Annis, 23, of Nelson Street, Brightlingsea, had to put her three-year-old cat Rory down after he swallowed anti-freeze.
Although she does not know whether Rory was intentionally poisoned or whether he found anti-freeze that had not been disposed of properly, she is keen to warn other pet owners about the dangers.
She said: “It is heartbreaking. I feel empty.
“My three-year-old daughter is really attached to him. She’s not really sure what’s going on.
“I just feel angry but upset at the same time.”
