BUILDING work on a new supermarket can now begin as planning permission has been granted.
Politicians on Colchester Borough Council’s planning committee approved an application to build a new supermarket and car park in Gosbecks Road, Shrub End.
The site, which is currently owned by retailer The Wine Company and Colchester Borough Homes, will be turned into a supermarket about the size of a hockey pitch with 115 car parking spaces.
It is not yet known which supermarket chain will take over the store.
