STAFF working to protect Constable country are to be consulted on possible ways of saving cash.
Suffolk County Council is to look at ways of reducing spending in a consultation launching tomorrow with employees of the Dedham Vale and Suffolk Coast and Heaths Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The move comes in anticipation of potentially considerable funding cuts from the Department for Rural Affairs, which is expected to make a more specific announcement on funding in the Autumn following the government’s latest Comprehensive Spending Review.
Although a range of cash sources are available for AONBs many of these cannot be used for core costs such as staff.
- A council spokesman said the process was in its very early stages and a lot would depend on the exact financial situation and the response from staff.
