A man is due to stand trial next year for the murder of a teenager outside a house party.
Jay Whiston, 17, of Aster Close, Clacton, was stabbed in Marlowe Way, Colchester.
He died a short time later in hospital with a subsequent provisional post-mortem examination result showing he died from a stab wound.
Today, Edward Redman, 18, from Stanway, appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court charged with murder.
Unemployed Redman was remanded in custody and is due to stand trial on January 8.
The case is expected to last for six weeks.
