A CARE home resident celebrated her 102nd birthday at the weekend.
Life-long Colchester resident Ivy Allen marked the occasion with a tea party.
The Old Rectory Residential Home, in Spring Lane, Lexden, also put on musical entertainment to celebrate the birthday on Sunday.
Ivy, who married husband Albert in St Botolph’s Church when she was 23, was also joined by five generations of her family and was thrilled with the party.
Born in Albion Grove, Ivy worked at the Hollington’s factory until it was destroyed by fire during the Second World War.
Ivy said: “I don’t feel any older now than in my 20s, I am just as happy and can still tell my children off.
“I had a lovely birthday.”
