Parents were today discovering how their children's primary schools are performing in the latest league tables.
Top of the class in north Essex is Great Tey Church of England Primary School.
Acting headteacher Deborah Crabb said: "We're absolutely delighted. The children have all worked extremely hard.
"It is always difficult when you have a small cohort of children, so this is great news for us. We have very supportive staff and parents. We are like a family at this school."
The tables show what percentage of pupils are making the Government target standard for core subjects of English, maths and science.
There is also a value added measure, designed to show how children are progressing between the Key Stage One and Two SATs.
