JINGLE bells could mean jingle cells for crooks this Christmas.
Festive shoppers are being armed with tiny bells to catch pickpockets who try to snatch their purses.
Police are handing out hundreds of crime-busting "cat bells" to late-night shoppers in Colchester town centre this week.
The bells - similar to ones on cats' collars - simply fit on to wallets and purses.
The tell-tale jingle is designed to alert their owners if a crook strikes.
