Council officers have pledged to minimise huge traffic delays when they carry out tree-felling work on a major road.
About 25 trees on the Avenue of Remembrance, Colchester, have been identified as being diseased or dead and Colchester Council will remove them.
The council has also pledged to put £6,000 into buying replacement semi-mature trees, planting them and providing after care for them.
