TRAVELLERS who pitched on a council car park claim they are visiting Colchester as part of their holiday.
The nine adults and four children parked six caravans in the Sheepen Road car park, owned by Colchester Council.
One of the travellers, who gave his name as Porado Delo, said he stopped off enroute to Edinburgh. The dadof- three said he was not part of the travelling community and had a house.
He said the group intended to stay in Colchester for up to a week and had come to the UK from Holland, via Harwich.
Council officers have told the travellers they are pursuing court action to move them on.
