A MAN was threatened with what is believed to have been a knife in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The 22-year-old victim was walking along Balkerne Hill in Colchester at 3.30am when the attack happened.
He was near the Hole in the Wall pub when he was pushed to the ground and threatened.
The victim managed to get to his feet and ran home.
He was uninjured in the assault and nothing was stolen.
Police this morning appealed for witnesses.
Det Con Tim Harris said: "The suspect is described as white, around 5ft11in to 6ft tall with short, dark, spikey hair.
"He was in his early 20s and has what has been described as a slim, pointed face with a large nose and prominent cheek bones. He had thin eyebrows and stubble.
"He was wearing a plain black hooded top with a large pocket on the front, dark blue jeans and white trainers."
Police said the attacker was last seen in the Balkerne Hill area and was alone.
