Travellers pitch up opposite Sainsbury's Tollgate store
TRAVELLERS arrived on land opposite the Sainsbury's store in Tollgate, Colchester.
About ten caravans pitched up on the site on Thursday but had already left by Friday lunchtime.
A Colchester Council spokesman said: “The land in question, opposite Sainsbury’s, Tollgate, is privately owned and therefore is down to the landowner to arrange eviction. If the landowner contacts the police, they may be able to assist in the eviction. As the land does not belong to Colchester Council or Essex County Council, the Essex Countywide Traveller Unit will act in an advisory capacity only.”
