Three men have been arrested after police were called to a disturbance in Winnock Road, Colchester, last night.
Officers were called to reports of man with a serious arm injury in the road at about 7.15pm.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "A 24 year old man from Colchester, who had been drinking, refused medical aid and was uncooperative with police officers. Following police investigations he was arrested for criminal damage, but was taken by officers to hospital for treatment to his wound.
A 33 year old man from Colchester was arrested on suspicion of affray and around 10pm a 45 year old man from Colchester was arrested on suspicion of affray and assault.
All three men remain in police custody."
Police conducted house to house enquiries but anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact police at Colchester Police Station on 101.
