A clinic thousands of miles away in Africa has been named in memory of a Colchester student.

The largest clinic of its kind in Namibia has been named after Catherine Bullen, a medical student who died in the country in 2002.

The clinic in Oshivelo replaces the former centre where Catherine was taken after becoming seriously ill with severe gastro-enteritis.

Catherine, a former student at Colchester County High School for Girls, tragically died aged 22.

Since then her parents, Roger and Linda, supported by family and friends, have tirelessly fundraised in her memory.

Mr and Mrs Bullen, who live in West Mersea, attended the clinic's inauguration and the opening by the Namibian Minister of Health and Social Services Dr Richard Kamwi.
