Plans for a second pharmacy in Brightlingsea have been rejected after Boots successfully argued it is not needed.
Residents and councillors say Boots, in Victoria Place, is struggling to cope with demand.
However, the NHS has rejected an application for a new pharmacy after Boots argued it is meeting residents’ needs.
Jayne Chapman and David Dixon, town councillors, told the NHS Litigation Authority a second pharmacy is desperately needed because Boots suffered from a lack of stock and long waiting times.
