A CAR was stolen after thieves crept into a house and stole the keys.
Police are investigating after the dark green Mini Cooper was taken from a driveway in Rosebank Road, West Mersea, at about 5pm yesterday.
The two suspects, who were both white men, crept into the house through an open back door, took the keys and drove away.
The first man was aged between 30 and 40, 6ft tall and of muscular build.
He was bald with a tribal tattoo on his right shoulder and upper arm. He was wearing a tight-fitting grey t-shirt.
The other man was aged between 20 and 40, 6ft tall and of a skinny build. He had messy short black hair which was greying.
He was seen driving an old-stlye red Ford Fiesta following behind the stolen Mini Cooper.
Dc Tim Harris, from Colchester CID said: “The suspects have crept in via an open back door whilst the occupant was elsewhere and they have taken the car key during broad daylight.
“I am appealing for anyone who was in the area and may have seen these men acting suspiciously or has any other information about the current location of the car.”
Police are also asking people to make sure their car keys are kept out of sight, especially if the car is parked on the drive way.
Anyone with information should contact DC Harris on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111.
