BROADCASTER, author and philanthropist Jeremy Spake is to be given an honorary degree by Colchester Institute.
The college, which has sites in Colchester, Clacton and Braintree, awards the honorary degree to someone its considers merits special recognition for outstanding achievement in their field.
This year the college has chosen the broadcaster who first found fame in the BBC documentary series Airport.
Jeremy, who is now a broadcaster and writer, also supports a number of charities and is involved in the Skills to Succeed programme at The College at Braintree.
The course is aimed at young students who are disengaged with education and works to inspire them into finding a career path.
Jeremy follows in the footsteps of Royal artist Richard Stone and Turner Prize winner ceramist Grayson Perry.
Nearly 1,000 graduates will receive their degrees at ceremonies being held at Colchester Town Hall on October 10 and 11.
