A COUPLE seen sitting on a bench close to where Jim Attfield’s body was found have emerged as prime suspects for the murder.
Today marks six months since Mr Attfield was found with 102 stabs wounds near Colchester Castle Park.
In the hours before his body was found, a man and a woman were seen on a bench about ten metres away.
Detectives appealed for them to get in touch just days after the killing, but they have still not come foward.
Det Chief Supt Simon Werrett said there was only one reason they had not made themselves known.
He said: “I presume it is because potentially they had something to do with it. I can’t think of another reason.”
Theman was white, stocky, had a closely-shaved head, and was possibly wearing a white shirt.
The woman was white with black hair in a pony tail, and was wearing a skirt and possibly a blouse.
