A LIFT must be installed at Marks Tey railway station, according to Witham MP Priti Patel.
Ms Patel met with rail minister Baroness Kramer to discuss better access for commuters needing to access the Sudbury branch line.
Mrs Patel said: “Marks Tey has already received investment to improve access to the station, but more work is needed to ensure passengers can enjoy the advantages of step-free access between platforms.
“We need a lift and I discussed in detail with the minister what investment packages may be available to achieve this.”
Manningtree railway station was one of four in the East of England to get a slice of £100million in funding for improved access for disabled passengers.
A planning application for a lift was approved in May last year, but Network Rail said the project might not be completed until 2019.
