COLCHESTER could be key in the outcome of tomorrow's General Election, according to George Osborne.
The chancellor was in Colchester yesterday during a 24-hour tour of businesses around the country.
He was joined by Will Quince - the Conservatives’ parliamentary candidate who plans to overturn Lib Dem Sir Bob Russell’s 7,000 majority - when he visted Asda, in Turner Rise.
Mr Osborne arrived at the store in an Asda Click and Collect van and helped staff member Tom Adkins load groceries onto the van, before spending time with packing staff in the click and collect warehouse.
Speaking exclusively to The Gazette, Mr Osborne said Colchester is one of 23 seats the party has targeted across the country to gain a majority.
He added: “People here need to realise that Colchester is a key seat which could decide the outcome of the election."
- Sir Bob Russell, Jordan Newell, Mark Goacher, John Pitts and Ken Scrimshaw are also standing for election in Colchester.
