AN investigation has been launched after yobs damaged a property during a house party.
Police and Colchester Council were called to Fairhead Road South, Colchester, to reports of criminal damage and noise nuisance.
Neighbours said they were warned a party was going to take place on Friday night and to expect more noise than usual.
Trouble erupted at about 11pm when a downstairs window was smashed and the fence at the side of the property was pulled down.
Neighbours said people were trying to gatecrash the party.
Police officers were alerted to the problems and Colchester Borough Homes sent a noise control officer to the scene.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “We were called with reports of criminal damage at an address in Fairhead Road, Colchester.
“Fence panels were damaged and a rock was thrown through a window. A group of youths were seen running off.”
Colchester Borough Homes is investigating the incident.
A spokesman said: “A representative from noise control was dispatched to Fairhead Road following reports of a house party.
“Our anti-social behaviour team have been made aware of the situation and will be beginning an investigation.”
Two panels on a window at the front of the house and the panel on the side door have been boarded up.
No-one at the home was available to speak to the Gazette when we tried to speak to the owners on Monday and Tuesday.
Any witnesses to the incident are urged to call Colchester police on 101.
