PART of a bungalow has collapsed and an elderly man was pulled to safety after an explosion.
The explosion happened in Elliots Drive, Walton, last night at about 7.30pm.
Neighbours described a huge bang which shook their homes and emergency services descended on the scene.
An 82 year-old man was inside at the time, but was carried outside by brave neighbours who ran into the crumbling building.
He is in hospital recovery, but suffered no injuries - described by his family as "a miracle".
Fire crews secured the scene and extinguished the flames.
Investigators are still trying to work out the cause of the blast.
