ACTRESS Carli Norris has left the corridors of Holby City hospital and is set to join one of TV’s most iconic families.

Carli, who lives in north Essex, has had her last on-screen moment on the hit show Holby and is now bound for Walford where she will join EastEnders’ famous Slater family.

She will appear as Belinda who hasn’t been seen on the square since Christmas Day 2003.

Carli said Belinda enters the soap in a storm of drama, “dressed head-to-toe in sequins, elbow gloves and a fur stole”.

She also has a blazing row with on-screen sister, Kat Slater.

The long-lost Slater girl will guest star in four episodes and rumour has it Carli has been booked for a return towards spring.

Speaking on her new role Carli said it hasn’t yet sunk in and she admitted she was scared to meet Jesse Wallace who plays Kat.

She said: “She’s such a huge character and I wasn’t sure if we’d gel on set but she was amazing - it’s like we’ve known each other for years.

“Shane [Richie] is hillarious and Leila Moore, who plays my on-screen nan is an absolute diamond, so it’s just a lovely family atmosphere.”

Carli, who first appeared on EastEnders in 1998 when she played Alice McMahon, is best known for playing Fran Reynolds on Holby City and alcoholic mother Martha Kane in Channel 4's Hollyoaks.

She said: “She was a complex character and enjoyable to play, but unless you know someone who’s an alcoholic or has been in that situation, it’s difficult to relate to.

“I felt old as Martha because she was an older woman but Belinda sees herself as more of a glamorous person and wants to be loved and adored.”

The episode airs on January 11 and Carli will be watching her debut with boyfriend, Colchester’s Dream 100 presenter Dom Atkins and TV magician friend Michael J Fitch.

She said: “Dom’s been waiting to tweet that we light our fire at home with the EastEnders script.

“He hums the theme tune every time he goes to light the fire.”
