A man has been banned from entering a part of Colchester after shouting racist remarks to his neighbours and damaging their property.
Essex Police successfully applied for an Injunction to Prevent Nuisance and Annoyance (IPNA) against Robert Green, 57, from Colchester on March 1.
Green has subjected his neighbours, many of whom were elderly and vulnerable, to offensive behaviour for a number of years.
This included shouting racist and offensive remarks towards them and damaging their property.
His anti-social behaviour continued despite him previously being subject to an ASBO and serving a prison sentence for racially aggravated assault on a neighbour.
Following a first hearing in October 2015, Green moved away from the area and the IPNA, issued by Chelmsford County Court, bans him from entering his previous neighbourhood for the next two years.
The ban is Essex Police's first injunction under new anti-social behaviour legislation.
The ban includes:
- Mountain Ash Close
- St Cyrus Road
- Silcock Close
- Chalfont Road
- Tyehurst Crescent
- Wilmington Road
- St Joseph Road
- Belmont Crescent
- Glendale Grove
- Arden Close
- Rossendale Close
- Delamere Road
- Glentress Close
- Kildermorie Close
- Rockingham Close
- Gilderdale Close
- Braemore Close
- Anthony Close
- St Bernard Road
- St Lawrence Road
- St Austell Road
- St Clement Road
- St Mark Drive
- St Luke's Close
- St Columb Court
Any breach of the order will be a contempt of court punishable by a fine or imprisonment.
Pc Steve Walsom, who collated the evidence needed for the IPNA said: "Green's behaviour left his neighbours feeling intimidated, fearful and anxious.
"Thanks to this IPNA they can now enjoy their neighbourhood once more, safe in the knowledge that Green is not allowed to return.
"Residents of Essex should be reassured that anti-social behaviour on this scale will not be tolerated and we will look to put anyone responsible before the courts."

Green was also ordered to pay costs of £530.
