TERMINALLY-ILL children will get the chance to meet Disney character Mickey Mouse and his friends after a charity cycle ride raised £70,000.
Cyclists from Spicerhaart estate agency rode across the country to fund a trip for children based in hospices in the UK and their families to go to Disneyland Paris.
The money will be donated to the Magic Moments charity, set up by the Colchester-based estate agency group 15 years ago, and will pay for about 100 children and their families to enjoy an unforgettable experience.
A total of 20 cyclists completed the 254 miles in three days arriving at Colchester’s Spicerhaart headquarters on Saturday.
Another 20 took part on legs from Cardiff to Bath and Clapham Common to Colchester.
Spicerhaart managing director Russell Jervis, who completed the whole ride, said: “It was an incredible experience, one I’ll never forget.
“Day two was particularly gruelling, with 10 hours in the saddle through driving rain and a head wind, covering 117 miles.
“But we battled through, giving us all he most amazing sense of achievement when we reached the end.”
Jonathan Martin, chairman of the trustees for Magic Moments, said: “This year, we broke all records for the funds raised and for the first time ever we will be taking two trips at different times of the year to Disneyland Paris, accommodating around 100 children and family members.
