CHILDREN have run all the way to Rio...while never leaving their playground.
Students at Myland Community Primary School, in Mill Road, Colchester, were set the challenge of running almost 6,000 miles by doing laps of their playground in September.
The children have finally reached their target just in time for the summer, when the Olympics will be held in Rio.
Elizabeth Connell, PE coordinator, set up the challenge in September and said she was very proud of them all.
She said: “All children have been taking part in the Golden Mile scheme at the school, where all the children run laps of the playground every day to try and reach the target of 5,819 miles which is the distance from Colchester to Rio.
“The children have been working towards this goal since the start of the year.”
