A WOMAN has appeared in court charged with downloading more than 2,200 indecent images of children on to her computer.
Alice Smith, 20, faces four charges of downloading indecent photographs of children between March 2013 and August 2015.
It is alleged 2,226 images were found - with 198 of those in the most serious category A bracket.
Smith, of Bromley Road, Ardleigh, is also charged with possessing extreme pornographic images portraying an act likely to result in serious injury to a person’s private parts, and two counts of possessing prohibited images of children - namely indecent cartoons.
Smith entered no plea when she appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
She was given conditional bail where she was ordered to have no contact with anyone under the age of 17 until she appears at Ipswich Crown Court on August 23 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
