TWO dogs have been handed over to police after an alleged attack.
Essex Police said the two Staffordshire Bull Terriers were taken by specialist handlers with their owners' consent after reports they had attacked another dog.
The owner of the staffies deny any attack could have taken place and plan to have their pets, who live with young children, returned to them before the end of the week.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We received a call at 11.55am today about a dog being attacked by other dogs in Britannia Crescent, Wivenhoe.
"Officers attended the address, seized the dogs and are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
"The injured dog was left in the care of a vet."
