PLANS to build more homes at the former Severalls Hospital site are set to be approved.
A master plan to redevelop the former psychiatric hospital in Boxted Road, Colchester, into housing was approved in 2011, with the first phase of homes being granted permission in the August.
The East Anglian Restoration Group has now applied to Colchester Council to convert three of the buildings there into 20 homes.
Larch House, the administration building and the Echelon building are all earmarked for redevelopment.
The application has been referred to the planning committee because a legal agreement is needed to link the plans to the outline planning approval for the redevelopment of the site.
The former Severalls Hospital site included a central complex of hospital buildings, a series of detached villas and woodland.
A report said: “The current application seeks planning permission for the conversion of three of the retained former Severalls Hospital buildings to residential use with car parking, landscaping and private amenity space.”
If it wins approval, Larch House, which used to be for male patients, will become two houses - one four-bedroom and one-three bedroom.
The administration building, which was at the front of the site, will become a four-bedroom house.
The Echelon building, one of the main units, will be transformed into 17 homes.
The plans will be considered on August 2. A listed building application has also been submitted for the alteration works to the administration building.
