HUNDREDS of students packed into a popular nightclub as an international music star arrived in Colchester as part of his world tour.
Nigerian sensation Burna Boy - who plays a combination of pop, Afro fusion and reggae music took to the stage at Atik in Colchester High Street last week.
The sell-out show was sandwiched between appearances at some of the UK's biggest music cities including Birmingham and Newcastle while the performer has also played at the O2 Academy in Brixton.
He has also fronted shows across America and Africa.
Burna Boy - who boasts close to two million followers on Instagram and Twitter - posted a message of appreciation online after the show.
He said: "The amount of beautiful girls in Colchester - I nearly forgot my lyrics."
The night was organised by entertainment company Born Good Entertainment.
Tinashe Mutanga, director and co-owner of the company, hailed the night - which was put on for students as part of Fresher's Week celebrations - as a massive success.
He said: "He is a great artist and attracts a really mixed demographic.
"Burna Boy is an international star so it was great to get him to come to Colchester as part of his world tour.
"Hopefully it puts the town on the map.
"The venue were really happy with what we put on."
Mr Mutanga said his company were hoping to bring other big name acts to the town as soon as possible.
He said: "We are looking to bring more mega super stars to Colchester and put Colchester nightlife of the map.
"Our goal is to be the pioneers."
Mr Mutanga said £500 from the profits of the show will be donated to the Colchester and Tendring Youth Engagement Service - a charity which provides an advice service for youngsters aged between 11 and 25.
