Welcome to the Gazette’s first “Colchester Chat” podcast.
Tim Fenton, head of Essex University’s journalism course and a former BBC journalist, hosted the 45-minute conversation between:
- Gazette head of content Dom Bowers
- Gazette entertainments editor Neil D’arcy-Jones
- Colchester Arts Centre director Anthony Roberts
The discussion centred around the town’s arts scene on the back of:
- Colchester Arts Centre’s recent £500,000 funding success
- Firstsite’s record financial performance and visitor figures, and
- the Mercury Theatre’s £1 million European Union grant for its Mercury Rising project.
Anthony also gave his thoughts on the cultural quarter furore – and created a theme tune for the podcast.
The show will also be available on itunes and can already be accessed on Soundcloud here.
A huge thanks to Essex University for recording the podcast.
